Is there a way to file bankruptcy for free?

While there are many fees that can be waived in the bankruptcy process, it will require filling out many forms in order to prove that you are extremely poor.

Getting yourself a bankruptcy lawyer to represent you is very important. While, Massachusetts gives some the option of getting a free attorney, it will require a long process with others being ahead of you on this list. The time you wait for a free counsel may cause you more harm then good. For example, you could lose your house if you file for bankruptcy too late. You could also file for bankruptcy without an attorney, but this can be very dangerous for someone who is unaware of all the extremely technical rules.

There are also the bankruptcy filing fees. While these fees can be waived, it will be very difficult to achieve this and most people will be required to pay them. After all, everyone filing for bankruptcy is struggling financially.

It is possible to have your bankruptcy education classes waived as well, but again, you will need to fill out forms providing information that shows you just can’t afford to pay the cost of the class.
